5 - 6" wide 1/4" thick 500 degree oven 4 minutes and two minutes

Recipe Ingredients for Pita Pockets

1 package yeast
1 tsp sugar
1 1/2 cups hot water
3 cups whole wheat flour
1 1/4 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Pita Pockets

  1. Proof the yeast with sugar in 1/2 C hot water.

  2. Put flour and salt in a bowl, make a well in the middle and add the yeast water. Add the additional cup of water.

  3. Mix well

  4. Knead for 10-15 minutes until elastic.

  5. put in an oiled bowl (olive oil) and let rise for 1 hour.

  6. Preheat the oven to 500*

  7. Roll dough into a log and cut into 12 pieces.

  8. Roll each piece into a circle about 5-6" long and 1/4" thick.

  9. Place a glass baking dish in the oven to preheat for a few minutes.

  10. Place a circle or two into the dish and bake for 4 minutes. Turn with a spatula and bake for 2 minutes more.
