Recipe Ingredients for Pita Bread

1 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1 tsp salt
1/2 cup water
1 tsp sugar
1 tsp yeast

Recipe Directions for Pita Bread

  1. Mix 1cup of flour and salt

  2. Warm water in saucepan til its warm and you can put finger into it then turn off the heat and put sugar and yeast into water and let it dissolved

  3. Mix yeast mixing with flour and knead til it smooth about 3-5 mins. Slightly add in remaining flour and continue kneading til it become a ball and not stick to the bowl

  4. Move a ball to a floured surface and knead about 10 mins or til you get tired on your hand( time to exercise!:-D)

  5. Move a ball to an oiled bowl, cover with a cloth and let it rise about 1.30 hrs.

  6. Punch one ball into 4 equal pieces put on a little of flour and form it to a ball. Let the dough rest the last time for 20 mins.

  7. Heat the oven on 200-230C for 10 mins. Turn over baking sheet and put on the alluminum foil, spray some oil and warm up the sheet for 30sec-1min before put in the dough. and put it in the LOWEST rack.

  8. Roll one ball of dough into 1/8-1/4 inch thick and about 5" diameter. Depends on your preference of the bread. Cover the rest of the dough that is not yet using.

  9. Bake the dough for 3-5 mins ot until its puffy.

  10. NOTE:for whole wheat pita, use 1 c flour+1/4 cup whole wheat flour.. if you not succeed.. You still can enjoy pizza bread or saltines lol.. dont give up.. keep on trying! You may need to see this best link i ever got on making pita bread =)=>http://www.thefreshloaf.com/recipes/pitabread
