Really easy to make and so much better than store-bought. The dough also makes a great pizza crust.

Recipe Ingredients for Pita Bread

2 cups unbleached white flour
1 1/2 cups whole wheat flour
2 tbsp. olive oil
1 tsp. salt
1 tsp instant yeast
1 cup water

Recipe Directions for Pita Bread

  1. Combine all ingredients and knead for 10 minutes.

  2. Cover bowl with plastic wrap or lid and let rise until double.

  3. Punch down and divide into 12 pieces.

  4. Roll each piece out into a thin circle, 4-6" diameter.

  5. Bake on a preheated baking stone in a 450 degree oven for 2 minutes or until puffed. Flip over and bake for 2 minutes longer.
