Recipe Ingredients for Pissaladiere

2 cups flour
1/2 tsp salt
1 egg
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup water
5 tbs olive oil
3 lbs onions
4 cloves of garlic

Recipe Directions for Pissaladiere

  1. To prepare the dough, place the flour and salt together in a mixing ball and stir together with a fork. Mix the egg, olive oil and water together and add to the flour. Mix first with the fork and then knead in the bowl with your knuckles until you have a soft, consistent dough. Form into a bowl and leave in the bowl. Cover with a folded towel and let stand at room temperature for about an hour before rolling out.

  2. Warm 3 tablespoons of the olive oil in a heavy saute pan over very low heat. Add onions, garlic, salt to taste and herbs. Cover and cook over the lowest possible heat until soft. (I like to caramelize the onions so, once they're soft, I cook them on high heat and stir them until browned.

  3. Preheat oven to 350. Cook for about 30mns. Remove from the oven and grind over some pepper.
