Recipe Ingredients for Pinto Beans

16 oz. pinto beans
1 jalapeno pepper
1/2 oz. ancho chiles
1 teaspoon salt
6 cups water
1 onion

Recipe Directions for Pinto Beans

  1. Wash and sort through the dried beans.

  2. Cover with water and bring to boil.

  3. Turn off heat and let stand for an hour.

  4. Add chopped onion and whole chilies.

  5. Bring to boil again and simmer, covered, till tender.

  6. Add the salt and cook about 15 more minutes.

  7. Mash or serve them whole.
