Recipe Ingredients for pinto beans with ham

1 pound pinto beans, dried
5 1/2 cups water
1 1/2 cups onion, chopped
1/4 pound ham, chopped
1 tbs chili powder
1 tsp black pepper
1/4 tsp oregano
1/4 tsp ground cumin
1 clove garlic, minced
1 1/2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for pinto beans with ham

  1. sort and wash beans place in dutch over cover with water to 2 inches above the beans, bring to a boil and cook 1 minute. Remove fromheat cover and let stand 1 hour. Drain

  2. Blac beans and next 8 ingredients into a 5 qt slow cooker and stir well. Cover with lid and cook 10 hours on low. Stir in sal, if desired. Serving is 1 cup
