Recipe Ingredients for Pineapple Upside Down Cake

18 1/4 ounce yellow cake mix
1 1/4 cup water
3 eggs
1/3 cup oil
1/4 cup shortening
1/2 cup brown sugar
10 slices pineapple

Recipe Directions for Pineapple Upside Down Cake

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Dab shortening across bottom of 13' x 9" pan and sprinkle brown sugar across the shortening. Top with pineapple slices.

  2. Prepare cake mix according to package directions, using the oil, eggs and water. Pour into pan.

  3. Bake for 35 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

  4. Cool cake for 30 minutes, loosen edges with butter knife, and invert pan onto cake plate. Serve pineapple side up.
