Brazilian rump steak with black beans in garlic and onion sauce

Recipe Ingredients for "Picanha"

950 g rump steak, thick cuts
3 tbsp olive oil, 100% extra virgin
2 tsp salt
1 pinch black pepper, freshly ground
3 cups black beans
3 cloves garlic, chopped
1 onion, chopped
1 tsp unsalted butter
500 ml beef stock

Recipe Directions for "Picanha"

  1. Season the steaks with 1 tsp of rock salt.

  2. Boil the beans for approximately 1 hour. (Add 1 tsp of salt).

  3. Heat up 1 tbsp of olive oil on a pan or grill and leave for about 5 minutes (maximum heat).

  4. Once hot, fry the steaks one by one, turning every 2-3 minutes. (Add a pinch of black pepper when turning for the first time).

  5. Meanwhile, finely chop the garlic and onion and stir fry in the remaining olive oil, together with the beef stock pot (medium-low heat) until soft. Do not allow to stick or brown.

  6. Once cooked, rinse the beans and throw them in the garlic and onion mixture. Let cook for a few minutes stirring occasionally. Add some water as needed.
