A hearty soup. You can substitute the potatoes with chayote or zucchini as well.

Recipe Ingredients for Picadillo

1 T canola oil
3 T garlic, minced
1 small onion, minced
1 c tomatoes, cubed
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 T fish sauce
1/4 t black pepper
4 c water
2 c potatoes, diced

Recipe Directions for Picadillo

Heat oil in a pot, then saute garlic and onion until browned. Add tomatoes and cook until tomatoes are softened. Add ground beef, fish sauce, pepper, water and potatoes. Simmer at low heat for about 1 hour.
