Bistec Encebollado - Marinated in Soy Sauce and Lemon Juice. Traditionally, calamondin juice is used.

Recipe Ingredients for Philippine-Style Bistec

1 pound lean beef
1/4 cup low sodium soy sauce
2 tablespoons lemon juice (one lemon)
1 clove garlic, minced
1 medium onions, cut into rings
2 cups water
1/4 teaspoon ground pepper

Recipe Directions for Philippine-Style Bistec

  1. Slice beef thinly.

  2. Make marinade: soy sauce, garlic,garlic, and onion rings.

  3. Marinate beef for a few hours or overnight. Drain meat and onion rings, reserving marinade.

  4. Fry beef or GRILL. If frying, in the same pan saute onion rings. Add reserved marinade and cook to a boil. Return beef to pan and 2 cups of water. Cover and simmer for twenty minutes or until beef is tender.
