Homemade pesto from Williams Sonoma Complete Pasta Cookbook

Recipe Ingredients for Pesto Sauce

2 cups (2 oz) fresh basil leaves, packed
3 garlic cloves, peeled
1/2 tsp. salt
1/4 cup (1 oz) pine nuts
1/2 cup (4 oz) extra virgin olive oil
3 tbsp butter, softened
1/3 cup (1.5 oz) grated parmesan cheese

Recipe Directions for Pesto Sauce

  1. In a food processor, blend basil and garlic.

  2. Add salt, pine nuts and pulse several times.

  3. With the motor running, add olive oil in asteady stream.

  4. Transfer to a bowl. Fold in butter until smooth.

  5. Fold in parmesan cheese.
