A great, healthier alternative to the Starbucks so-called perfect oatmeal which is just a packet of instant! This has more fiber, less sugar and salt, and tastes awesome to boot. And, you can enjoy it at home or premix the dry ingredients in a ziplock to make at work. A 42 oz box of quick oats costs about the same as a single serving of the Starbucks version.

Recipe Ingredients for Perfect Oatmeal ala John

1/2 cup quick oats
3/4 cup water
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1 dash salt
1/8 cup raisins

Recipe Directions for Perfect Oatmeal ala John

  1. Combine all ingredients in a microwave-safe bowl at least double the volume of the ingredients. Microwave on high for 2 minutes. Add calorie-free sweetener to taste. You can also add milk to the prepared oatmeal, but adjust the calories to account for it.
