Recipe Ingredients for Perfect Coconut Macaroons

2 cups shredded unsweetened coconut
2/3 cup sugar
3 tablespoons finely ground almonds
1/4 teaspoon salt
2 egg whites
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Recipe Directions for Perfect Coconut Macaroons

  1. Combine coconut, sugar, flour & salt in mixing bowl.

  2. Whip up the egg whites & extract to form medium firm peaks. Stir in egg whites & almond extract; mix well.

  3. Drop by teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased baking sheets.

  4. Garnish with candied cherry halves, if desired.

  5. Bake at 325F for 20-25 minutes, or until edges of cookies are golden brown.

  6. Remove from baking sheets immediately.
