This recipe uses Pillsbury's original "Perfect Apple Pie" recipe (from the refrigerated crust box) with Splenda instead of sugar in the apple mix. Also added is more lemon than called for in the original Pillsbury recipe and the addition of butter during baking, per Betty Crocker.

Recipe Ingredients for Perfect Apple Pie but with Splenda

16 Pillsbury Pie Crusts All Ready Rolled
6 cups apples, sliced, peeled
3/8 cup SPLENDA, Sugar Blend for Baking
2 tbls flour, unbleached, all-purpose
3/4 tbsp cinnamon
1/8 tbsp nutmeg
1/3 cup lemon, juiced
2 tbls butter, stick

Recipe Directions for Perfect Apple Pie but with Splenda

  1. Preheat oven to 400F. Remove crust from fridge and unroll so that it warms up.

  2. In large bowl, stir together filling all ingredients except butter.

  3. Put 1 crust in pie pan. Add filling. Put each pat of butter on a different quarter of the pie. Put top crust on top, fold under bottom crust. With sharp knife, put 4 slits in top pie crust on different quarters. Cover outside crust with aluminum foil to prevent burning.

  4. Bake 40-50 minutes. Original recipe says "or until apples are tender and crust is golden brown". Make sure top crust is "golden brown" before removing from oven. It usually takes the full 50 minutes in my oven.
