Home made chinese Pepper Steak. Best if prepared the night before.

Recipe Ingredients for Pepper Steak

2 tbsp olive oil
12 ounces sirloin beef
2 onions
2 red peppers
8 cloves garlic
3 tbsp soy sauce
6 tbsp water
1 tsp cornstarch
1/2 tsp sugar

Recipe Directions for Pepper Steak

  1. CUT: Slice up onions and peppers (cooks faster if you slice thin, maybe a quarter inch wide), mince 2 cloves of garlic and slice beef into 1-2 inch strips long, as thin as you can without chipping it.

  2. In container, mix beef, 2 cloves garlic, sugar, 1 tbsp soy sauce and a little bit of onions to marinate overnight (minimum 2 hours) and store all other ingredients in separate containers.

  3. Before warming up the wok: Mix gravy-2 tbsp soy sauce, 6 tbsp water, and 1 tsp corn starch in a bowl/cup and mince remainder of garlic (6 cloves).

  4. Add 1 tbsp olive oil to a hot wok, cook peppers about 3 minutes, add onions and cook for another 2 minutes or until onions start to get translucent, then remove from heat.

  5. Add 1 tbsp olive oil and cook beef about 5 minutes until no longer pink, add remaining garlic and cook for 1 more minute and add reserved vegetables.

  6. Add gravy mixture and cook until desired thickness of gravy. Serve over your favorite rice. I like it with a Wild & Brown Rice Mix.
