"Pepper" Steak Recipe

I modified Mom's recipe to reduce the oil and subbed mushrooms, onions, and broccoli for the peppers.

Recipe Ingredients for "Pepper" Steak

1 1/2 lb top sirloin steak
1/4 cup olive oil
3 T soy sauce, low sodium
1 T cooking sherry
4 t cornstarch
1/4 t ground ginger
1/2 t sugar
1 large sweet onion
12 oz mushrooms
3 cups broccoli florets

Recipe Directions for "Pepper" Steak

  1. Partially freeze meat and slice in strips.

  2. Mix strips well with 1 T oil plus all other ingredients except vegetables.

  3. Marinate while preparing brown or other rice to accompany.

  4. Use rest of oil to stir fry meat and onions together. Remove from pan.

  5. Add broccoli and mushrooms and cook until tender.

  6. Add meat and onions and heat through.
