Recipe Ingredients for Penne Pasta with Ham & Sweet Peppers

16 oz dry pasta
2 tbsp olive oil
1 1/2 lbs ham
1 cup red bell pepper, strips
1 tsp garlic powder
2 tbsp dried basil
1/2 cup parmesan cheese
1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded
2 cups summer squash, sliced
1 1/2 cups 1% milk
1 tsp black pepper

Recipe Directions for Penne Pasta with Ham & Sweet Peppers

  1. Cook dry pasta in boiling water according to package directions. Drain.

  2. Cut ham into cubes. Cut bell pepper into strips. Cut squash in half lengthwise then slice 1/4" thick.

  3. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add bell pepper and squash. Saute just until tender-about 5 minutes. Add ham, basil, garlic powder, pepper, and milk. Bring just to a simmer and pour over pasta. Mix well then add cheeses.

  4. Mix and toss lightly to melt cheese. Hold for serving at 140 degrees F.
