Very moist, Preheat oven to 350F. Use a 9 inch pan.

Recipe Ingredients for Pear Gingerbread Upside Down Cake


Topping:
1/4 c Melted Butter
1/2 c Packed Brown Sugar
28 oz canned pears

Cake:
1/4 c butter
1/2 c packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 c unsweetened applesauce
1/2 c molasses
1 1/2 c Flour
2 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/4 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Pear Gingerbread Upside Down Cake

  1. Topping: Combine butter, sugar. Spread on bottom of pan. Lay pears on top cut side up covering the bottom.

  2. Cake: Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until incorporated. Blend in applesauce and molasses.

  3. In a seperate bowl combine remaining ingredients. Stir in applesauce mixture.

  4. Spoon batter over pears.

  5. Bake in preheated over for approximately 45 min.

  6. Run a knife around edge of cake and invert onto a serving platter. Allow topping to drip off of pan onto cake for approximately 5 min.
