Great holiday pie filling - use your favorite pie crust recipe or use to make a cobbler.

Recipe Ingredients for Pear-Cranberry Pie Filling

3/4 cup sugar
3 tablespoons cornstarch
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
5 cups Del Monte Pear Halves in 100% Juice , sliced
2 cups fresh cranberries ,(frozen can be substituted)
2 tablespoons butter
1 large egg
1 tablespoon skim milk

Recipe Directions for Pear-Cranberry Pie Filling

  1. Prepare a 9-inch pie plate with bottom crust of your choice; set aside.

  2. In a large bowl combine the sugar, cornstarch, and spices. Add sliced pears and whole cranberries; toss to coat.

  3. Spoon contents of large bowl into pie crust and dot with butter.

  4. Top pie with pastry lattice or other topping of your choice.

  5. In a small bowl, whisk egg and milk; brush over pastry if using. Sprinkle top of pie with small amount of sugar.

  6. Cover pie loosely with foil and bake at 450 F degrees for 15 minutes.

  7. Reduce heat to 350 F degrees and remove foil; bake for 40 - 45 minutes or until crust is golden brown and filling is bubbly.

  8. Cool on wire rack.
