Pear and apple slice, bit like a shortcake.

Recipe Ingredients for Pear and apple slice

200 g butter
1/2 cup sugar
2 cups flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1 egg
1 tablespoon milk
450 g pears
400 g apple sauce

Recipe Directions for Pear and apple slice

  1. Preheat oven to 190C. In a processor cut butter into the sugar and flour mixture until the mixture resembles fine breadcrumbs. Add egg and milk and stir or pulse to mix well.

  2. Press two thirds of the mixture into the base of a baking paper lined tin.

  3. Drain tin of pears and roughly slice, scatter over the base, squeeze the apple over the pears. With floured hands dot the remaining pastry over the top.

  4. Bake in oven for 40 minutes. When cool, dust with icing sugar, cut into squares.
