Recipe Ingredients for pea soup

1 lb split peas
1 tbsp olive oil
1 large onion
2 carrots
1 stalk celery
32 oz chicken broth
1/4 lb lean ham

Recipe Directions for pea soup

  1. Bring peas and enough cold water to cover to boil. Remove from heat, cover and let peas soak about 1 hour.

  2. Heat oil in saucepan. Add onion, carrots, celery; cook stirring occasionally about 5 minutes. Stir in drained peas, broth,water and ham. Bring to boil, then reduce and simmer coveed for about an hour.
