Paul's highly experimented upon improvements of Grandma Betsy's recipe. He suggests not cooking it, and freezing until using it. I personally like cooking all granola for a crisper, chrunchier chew.

Recipe Ingredients for Paul's granola

34 oz rolled oats
10 cups 7-grain cereal
10 cups bran flakes
10 cups rice chex
1 cup cashews
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cups wheat flour
2 cups wheat germ
1 cup wheat bran
14 oz coconut
3 cups powdered milk
3 cups honey
3 cups vegetable oil
3 tbsp vanilla
2 tbsp salt
2 2/5 oz vanilla protein supplement

Recipe Directions for Paul's granola

  1. Mix everything up to coconut in a big stockpot (these are the dry ingredients).

  2. combine remaining ingredients (these are the wet ingredients) in a saucepan and bring to a boil.

  3. Pour over dry ingredients while stirring constantly to make sure it has mixed thoroughly. (Any water added at this point will make it more "clumpy". The more you add, the clumpier it gets, within reason. Make sure you don't add too much, or it gets sloppy).

  4. (alternate step if desired). Add dried fruit (raisins, cranberries, apples, etc.).

  5. Freeze: (according to Paul)

  7. Bake: spread thin (1 inch thick) over large cookie sheets and bake at 300 degrees for 30 min.
