Although it is delicious with milk, yogurt, and fruit, this granola requires no added milk protein to complement the grains. So eat it dry for snacks or camping.

Recipe Ingredients for Pat's Granola

3/4 cup honey
1/2 cup grapeseed oil
1 tablespoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 cup quinoa
1 cup wheat germ
2 cups unsweetened coconut, grated
7 cups rolled oats
2 cups raisins

Recipe Directions for Pat's Granola

  1. In a large saucepan or dutch oven (cast iron works very well) heat the oil, honey, and vanilla until the mixture is thin.

  2. Turn off the heat and stir in the remaining ingredients in the orfer given. Make sure each ingredient is coated with the honey mixture (except for the coconut and rolled oats which you will just have to mix in).

  3. Put the dutch oven into your oven and turn the heat to 350F. The cereal will begin to toast in about 15 minutes.

  4. Once it has begun to brown stir it every 5 to 10 minutes.

  5. I recommend that the cereal be toasted very lightly, but toast it according to your own taste preference (or toast preference) Be sure to stir it up from the bottom too.

  6. Take the cereal out of the oven and let it cool before pouring into storage jars.
