Quick and easy but tastes like it cooked all day. Any pasta will work but fusilli is my husband's favorite.

Recipe Ingredients for Pasta with Meat Sauce

16 oz dry noodles, brown rice, fusilli
12 oz Italian sausage, turkey
1 red onion, large, chopped
8 oz mushrooms, sliced
32 oz Pasta sauce, Tomato, Herbs & Spice (Classico Organic)
6 oz tomato paste, Organic
1/2 cup wine, dry white (optional)
1 tsp fennel seed, ground
1 tbsp basil, fresh, chopped
1 tsp oregano
8 cups spinach, fresh, baby leaves
1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded

Recipe Directions for Pasta with Meat Sauce

  1. Spray olive oil to lightly cover bottom of large pot over medium-high heat.

  2. Add onion and mushrooms and saute until mushrooms start to brown, 3-4 minutes.

  3. Remove sausage from skins and add to pot with fennel seed, basil and oregano. Reduce heat to medium and brown the sausage breaking it up into small bits as it cooks.

  4. Add the tomato sauce, paste and wine. Bring to a simmer, stirring to blend well. Reduce heat to medium-low and cover. Stir every 5-10 minutes for thirty minutes.

  5. Fill a large pasta pot with enough water to cook 16 oz of your favorite pasta. Salt water if desired. Once water boils cook pasta al dente.

  6. Just before pasta is done add spinach leaves to the sauce stirring them in. Turn off heat and cover to allow spinach to wilt and heat through.

  7. Drain and rinse pasta. Add to sauce stirring gently. Remove pot from heat and serve. Garnish with 1 Tbsp of parmesan cheese
