"Paska" Ukranian Easter bread is traditionally made and served on Easter Sunday This bread is high in selenium which is an essential part of the antioxidant enzyme glutathione peroxidase. It has 85% of the daily value of saturated fat and 69% of the daily allowance of cholesterol which both are some what high.

Recipe Ingredients for Paska

3 c. Milk, Reduced Fat, Fluid, 2% Milkfat
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tbsp. salt
1 c. butter, melted
6 eggs, beaten
1/2 tbs g) Yeast
1/2 cup water
12 c. flour
1 cup raisins

Recipe Directions for Paska

  1. scald milk

  2. combine milk, butter, sugar, salt, and raisins

  3. beat eggs add to mixture

  4. let milk cool to room temperature then add to above mixture

  5. dissolve yeast in luke warm water for at least 10 minutes then add to mixture

  6. add flour 2 cups at at time , and kneed till mixed well

  7. let raise 1 hour, then seperate into loaf pans , let raise 45 minutes and bake at 350 for 55 minutes
