I am trying to see if splenda would work similar to sugar . unfortunately the caramelization and also the syrupyness of sugar can not be duplicated by splenda

Recipe Ingredients for papya halwa

2 cups papaya(raw/grated)
1 cup milk(full fat)
1 cup sugar(/splenda)
1 pinch of saffron
2 tbsp ghee
1 tsp cashew
1 tsp raisins

Recipe Directions for papya halwa

  1. Heat one tbsp ghee in a pan, add the grated papaya and fry till

  2. the raw smell vanishes.

  3. Add the milk and saffron and mix well. The milk will break while cooking

  4. and let the papaya get cooked with the whey (remaining water after the

  5. milk is broken).

  6. While the papaya is getting cooked with the whey, let the 3 th of the

  7. whey get evaporated and then add sugar/splenda.

  8. Keep stirring continuously, to avoid papaya getting stick to the bottom.

  9. Let the sugar/splenda get dissolved completely and gets thickened.

  10. The sugar/splenda will form a thin film like coat called glaze, at that stage

  11. remove from fire.

  12. Heat ghee in a separate pan, add the broken cashew nuts and kismis and

  13. fry them a little and add to the halwa and mix well.
