From Martha Stewart's recipe for Red, White, and Blue Parfaits. Delicious with fresh fruit or fruit sauces.

Recipe Ingredients for Panna Cotta

1/3 c cold water
2 envelopes (1.5 Tbsp) unflavored gelatin
3 1/2 c whole milk
1 c heavy cream
3/4 c sugar

Recipe Directions for Panna Cotta

  1. Pour the water into a small bowl. Sprinkle gelatin on top and let soften for five minutes.

  2. Put remaining ingredients in a saucepan and bring to almost a boil. Reduce to a simmer.

  3. Add gelatin and stir until completely dissolved, about five minutes.

  4. Pour through a fine sieve into greased molds.

  5. Refrigerate until set.
