Noodle dish from Thailand. You'll need to purchase fish sauce, tamarind and rice noodles (vermicelli), most of which are found in Asian grocery stores.

Recipe Ingredients for Pad Thai

10 oz rice noodles
2 tbs fish sauce
1 tbs sugar
1/4 cup tamarind juice
3 tbs vinegar
1 tbs chilies
2 ounces lean pork
3 large shrimp
1 egg
2 tsp peanuts
1 green onion
1 cup bean sprouts

Recipe Directions for Pad Thai

  1. Soak noodles in water to cover.

  2. Combine fish sauce, sugar, tamarind juice, vinegar and chopped chilies in bowl.

  3. Heat 1 1/2 Tbs oil in a medium skillet. Add pork, shrimp and fish sauce mixture and cook over high heat until pork is browned and well cooked.

  4. Thoroughly drain noodles and add to skillet. Stir just enough to dry slightly. Push noodle mixture to one side of skillet. Add one Tbs oil to skillet and heat. Add egg and scramble until firm. Top egg with noodle mixture, 1 tsp crushed peanuts and 1 cup bean sprouts.

  5. Serve topped with additional bean sprouts, green onion, and remaining tsp of crushed peanuts.
