Known as "chicken and eggs on rice." Oyako literally means "parents and children." An easy to make, soothing dish with losts of flavor.

Recipe Ingredients for oyako donburi

1 chicken breast
1 cup broth, dashi
5 tbsp soy sauce
2 1/2 tbsp sugar
2 1/2 tbsp wine, MIRIN
3 eggs
2 green onions
1 cups Rice, White, Short-grain, Cooked

Recipe Directions for oyako donburi

  1. Add soy sauce, sugar, and mirin to dashi broth. Heat in large sauce pan.

  2. Add diced chicken breast and simmer lightly until just cooked.

  3. Whisk 3 eggs with fork and dribble egg into broth and chicken mixture, stirring slowly. Cook gently until egg has set.

  4. Add chopped green onion and allow to just heat a moment.

  5. Dish out portions of the chicken and egg broth topping onto individual servings of steamed white rice.
