Get 'em started the night before and heat 'em up in the morning. You could use margarine or olive oil or coconut oil or whatever you want instead of butter.

Recipe Ingredients for Overnight Steel Cut Oats

1 cup steel cut oats
1 tbsp butter, salted
3 cups water

Recipe Directions for Overnight Steel Cut Oats

  1. Heat up the butter in a 2 qt. saucepan

  2. Toast the oats for about 3 minutes over low medium to medium heat or until they smell all delicious and toasty.

  3. Add the water and bring to a rolling boil.

  4. Turn off the heat, cover the pan and push it to a cool burner for the night.

  5. When you're ready to eat it in the morning just heat it over medium heat for a few minutes stirring often.

  6. At this point I like to add milk and fruit or maybe even protein powder. Enjoy!
