Delicious alternative to fried chicken

Recipe Ingredients for Oven-Fried Chicken

1/2 c all-purpose flour
1 c buttermilk, low-fat
1 c dried bread crumbs
1 1/2 c walnut pieces, chopped
2 t onion powder
2 t dried thyme
2 t paprika
1 t celery seeds
1 t ground allspice
1 t garlic powder
1 t ground black pepper
2 t salt
4 lb chicken pieces, skinless

Recipe Directions for Oven-Fried Chicken

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Mix walnuts and spices (through salt) in food processor until nuts are ground. Mix walnut mixture and bread crumbs.

  3. Put flour, buttermilk, and bread crumb mixture into 3 separate bowls or shallow pans.

  4. Coat each piece of chicken with the flour, then the buttermilk, then the bread crumb mixture.

  5. Place coated chicken on a wire rack with a baking sheet underneath it.

  6. Cook 40 minutes or until chicken internal temperature is 165 degrees.
