Recipe Ingredients for Oven Baked French Fries

4 russet potatoes
7 tablespoons olive oil
3 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 teaspoons sea salt
1 1/2 teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon garlic powder

Recipe Directions for Oven Baked French Fries

  1. Preheat oven to 440˚F.

  2. Cut each of the four potatoes into twelve pieces, so that you end up with 48 french fries total.

  3. Place olive oil in a large bowl and microwave uncovered for 45 seconds.

  4. Remove 6 of the 7 tablespoons of olive oil from the bowl and place on the baking sheet, making sure the sheet is evenly and fully coated with olive oil before proceeding.

  5. Place the potatoes in the bowl with the remaining tablespoon of olive oil and toss to coat.

  6. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and microwave on high for 5 minutes, pausing halfway through to shake the bowl slightly.

  7. In a small bowl, combine the cornstarch, salt, pepper, and garlic powder.

  8. Remove potatoes from microwave and remove the plastic wrap from the top. Pour the cornstarch mixture over the potatoes and toss to coat.

  9. Place the potatoes in a single layer on the baking sheet.

  10. Place baking sheet and oven for 35-40 minutes, pausing halfway through to flip the potatoes to the other side.

  11. Upon removing the fries from the oven, immediately place them on a paper towel to absorb any excess oil. Add more salt and pepper, as desired. Serve warm.
