Recipe Ingredients for The original gingerbread

1/2 cup Butter
1/2 cup Sugars
1 large Egg
1 cup Molasses
1 1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1 tsp Cloves, Ground
1 tsp Ginger, Ground
1 tsp Cinnamon, Ground
2 1/2 cup All-Purpose Flour
1 cup hot water

Recipe Directions for The original gingerbread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mix shortening and sugar.

  3. Mix in egg and molasses.

  4. Mix in flour, baking soda and spices.

  5. Mix in hot water.

  6. Pour into a 9x13 baking pan and bake for 25-35 minutes or until a knife inserted in centre comes out clean.
