These energy bars are designed for people who aren't looking to become Olympic athletes or bodybuilders but people who want to stay fit and eat healthy. They have enough carbs, protein, and sugar to give you enough fuel to get through a work out or replace lost nutrients after one. My recommendation is to use all organic and natural ingredients whenever possible. *Note the following tips:* - The oats can be substituted for any you happen to have on hand. - For the nuts you can use whatever you like but plug the specific ones into the recipe analyzer to get YOUR specific recipe's nutritional breakdown.

Recipe Ingredients for Orange, Ginger & Cranberry Energy Bars

2 cup quick oats
3 tablespoons honey
5 scoops whey protein powder
3/4 cup wheat bran
3/4 cup dried cranberries
1 orange
1/2 cup sesame seeds
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 1/2 tablespoons ground ginger
1/16 teaspoon ground cloves
1/4 cup shredded coconut
1/2 cup water

Recipe Directions for Orange, Ginger & Cranberry Energy Bars

  1. Coat an 9-by-13-inch baking pan with cooking spray.

  2. Combine dry ingredients in a large bowl.

  3. Dice orange into very small pieces. Avoid leaving anything stringy if it can be avoided.

  4. Put honey in a microwaveable bowl; microwave on High until bubbling, roughly 15 seconds. **If mixture it starts to cool down too soon, just put it back into the microwave for about another 8 seconds.**

  5. Next, add the warm honey to the orange pieces. Then incorporate in with the dry ingredients. Stir until incorporated well leaving no large chunks. Add the 1/2 cup of water in 2 separate pours of 1/4 cups once mixture seems to become too dry to mix.

  6. Transfer the mixture to the prepared pan. Press down firmly using wet hands and spread out evenly.

  7. Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Once at temperature place on middle rack and bake for 10 minutes. Once time is up remove and let cool. Cut into bars and enjoy.
