Yummy orange chicken, just like take-out! I use pre-breaded frozen chicken pieces, but you can cut up and fry your own if desired.

Recipe Ingredients for Orange Chicken

12 oz breaded chicken chunks
1 tbsp vegetable oil
1 tbsp ginger, minced
1 tsp garlic, crushed
1/2 tsp cayenne pepper
1/4 c green onion, chopped
1 T rice vinegar
1 1/2 tbsp soy sauce
1 1/2 tbsp orange juice
5 tbsp white vinegar

Recipe Directions for Orange Chicken

  1. Cook chicken according to package directions.

  2. While the chicken cooks, mix orange sauce in a small bowl: soy sauce, orange juice, white vinegar, and a sweetener (I use truvia) equivalent to 5 tbsp sugar.

  3. Heat wok over high heat. Add 1 tbsp oil.

  4. Saute garlic and ginger for 15 seconds.

  5. Add green onions and cayenne (or crushed chiles if you want).

  6. Add rice vinegar.

  7. Add orange sauce and bring to a boil.

  8. Add cooked chicken, and stir until coated.

  9. If desired, thicken sauce with cornstarch. You can also add sesame oil (about 1/2 tsp) and orange zest on top for extra flavor.

  10. Serve over rice.
