Makes 6 servings



French onion soup, can add 1 Tbsp Worcestershire sauce to recipe if desired.

Recipe Ingredients for Onion Soup

5 Vidalia onions
6 cups beef broth
3 tbsp butter
2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
2 tbsp flour
1/4 cup Sherry wine
2 tsp garlic
2 tsp thyme
2 tsp poultry seasoning
1/2 tsp pepper
1/2 tsp salt

Recipe Directions for Onion Soup

  1. Cook onions in EVOO and butter in large skillet over med-low heat, covered, 15 minutes.

  2. Meanwhile, heat broth in crockpot on high.

  3. When onions are fully cooked and caramelized, add flour, wine, garlic, and spices to onions, mix thoroughly. Add onion mixture to broth in crockpot.

  4. Cook in crockpot on high for 3 hours (or low for 6-8 hours) until done.

  5. Serve with crusty garlic & cheese bread, and/or Swiss or Gruyere cheese on top.
