Recipe Ingredients for One Loaf Oatmeal Bread

4 serving Molasses
5.33 serving All Vegetable Shortening
40 grams Old Fashioned Quaker Oats
1 large Egg, Whole
2 3/4 cup White Wings Enriched All Purpose Flour, Bleached
1/4 tsp Yeast
1/4 cup (8 fl oz) Water
3/4 cup (8 fl oz) Water
1 1/2 tsp. salt

Recipe Directions for One Loaf Oatmeal Bread

  1. Mix dry yeast and 1/4 lukewarm water together and allow to dissolve. Stir 3/4 cup boiling water, molasses, rolled oats, shortening and 1 1/2 tsp salt together. Cool. When lukewarm, stir the yeast mixture into this.

  2. Beat egg slightly and add. Beat with a spoon. Stir in flour gradually. Place in a lightly greased bowl. Cover and place in refrigerator for 2 hours.

  3. Remove and shape into a loaf you will need just a little flour for doing this. Place in a greased bread tim. Cover. Allow to rise in a warm place. It will take about 2 hours.

  4. Bake at 350 degrees for one hour. Remove from pan. Grease top of loaf.
