Basic Italian-style bread - grills/toasts well. Great for sandwiches or with soup, pasta, etc.

Recipe Ingredients for Olive Oil Bread

2 cups water
1 1/2 lbs bread flour
1 oz yeast
3/4 c olive oil
1 T coarse salt

Recipe Directions for Olive Oil Bread

  1. make poolish at least 8 hours ahead with .25 oz of yeast, 4 oz of the flour and 4 oz of the water

  2. combine water and flour in mixing bowl

  3. Stir on low speed with flat beater to combine

  4. autolyse for 20-30 min

  5. add poolish and oil and mix until well combined

  6. Cover and proof until doubled (1 hour)

  7. knead with hook on medium speed for about 3 min until dough pulls always from sides of bowl but still sticky

  8. cover and proof until doubled (1 hour)

  9. Shape dough and bake at 450 until browned
