Recipe Ingredients for Old Fashioned Rye Bread

6 fl oz water
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
4 teaspoon molasses
1 teaspoon salt
6 oz strong white flour
3 oz rye flour
2 teaspoons yeast

Recipe Directions for Old Fashioned Rye Bread

  1. Place all ingredients into a bread machine in the order to the manual and place on dough cycle, once dough has been made turn out on a floured surface and kneed together, and make a ball, then squash, so it resembles a large bap or roll, on a baking sheet sprinkle some polenta and sit the bread on top and place a clean cloth over the top and allow to prove.

  2. Once the bread has been left to prove for about 15 minutes, glaze with a little milk and place in a pre heated oven gas mark 5 for about 35 minutes or until top is golden and crusty and when you tap it it sounds hollow.
