Recipe Ingredients for Old-Fashioned Applesauce Raisin Cookies

1/4 cup shortening
1 cup brown sugar, packed
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce
1 egg
2 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
3/4 tsp cinnamon, ground
1/4 tsp cloves, ground
1/2 cup raisins
1/2 cup walnuts, chopped

Recipe Directions for Old-Fashioned Applesauce Raisin Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 375

  2. Mix together shortening, brown sugar, applesauce and egg until smooth. In a seperate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon and cloves, stir into applesauce mixture.

  3. Drop dough by rounded teaspoons onto ungreased coe sheets. Top each with walnuts and raisins. Bake 10-12 minutes. Cool on baking sheets 5 minutes before transfering to wire rack.

  4. Makes 2 dozen Cookies.
