Recipe Ingredients for Old Fashion Rice Pudding

6 cups 1%milk
3/4 cup long grain rice
3/4 cup sugar
2 egg yolks, beaten
2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
1 tsp vanilla

Recipe Directions for Old Fashion Rice Pudding

  1. Rinse large saucepan with cold water: DO NOT DRY. Pour milk and bring to a boil over medium heat. Stir in rice and return to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer uncovered, stirring occasionally, until rice is tender, about 55 minutes.

  2. Mean while in bowl combine cream, sugar, egg yolks, vanilla and salt. When rice is tender, stir in cream mixture until completely combined, bring to a boil. Remove from the heat and pour into a 2-quart serving dish. Sprinkle with cinnamon. Refrigerate at least 4 hours.
