Recipe Ingredients for Oil-Based Tomato Sauce

1/3 cup extra virgin olive oil
3 cloves garlic
2 tsp crushed red pepper
1/2 cup white wine
28 oz diced tomatoes

Recipe Directions for Oil-Based Tomato Sauce

  1. Heat olive oil over medium heat.

  2. Add garlic and crushed red pepper, then saute until garlic is tender to the touch.

  3. Add white wine and let the mixture boil until all of the alcohol is boiled out -- the sauce should smell slightly buttery instead of pungent.

  4. Add tomatoes and heat through.
