great for cold mornings - use a nonstick pot w/ lid

Recipe Ingredients for Oatmeal - hot

1/2 tsp canola oil
1/3 cup rolled oats
2/3 cup water
1 tsp maple syrup
1 oz raisins

Recipe Directions for Oatmeal - hot

  1. heat oil - add oats and stir

  2. toast until you can smell the oats (1-2 minutes)

  3. Add hot water to pan w/ syrup

  4. add a few raisins if desired

  5. lower heat and simmer until a consistency you like - about 10 minutes
