Bagels with ground oatmeal and honey.

Recipe Ingredients for Oatmeal Honey Bagels

1 cup oatmeal
3 cups flour
1/2 ounces dry yeast
1 1/2 cups hot water
4 tablespoons honey
3 tablespoons sugar
1 tablespoons salt

Recipe Directions for Oatmeal Honey Bagels

  1. In a large bowl combine oatmeal, 0.5 cup flour and yeast.

  2. In a separate bowl mix honey, water and sugar.

  3. Add the liquid mixture to the dry mixture and beat with mixer for 3 minutes. Then by hand, add additional flour until you have a moderately stiff dough.

  4. Knead dough for abot 8-10 minutes or until smooth and elastic. Cover and let rise for 15 minutes.

  5. Cut into 8-12 portions. Roll into ball and form a hole in the middle. Let dough bagels rise for another 20 minutes.

  6. In a pot of boiling water add 1 tablespoon of sugar. Boil bagels for 7 minutes.

  7. Bake at 375 degrees for 30-35 minutes.
