I was craving chocolate chip cookies but I wanted them to be healthier so I found a recipe online and tweaked it a bit, reducing the sugar, amount of chocolate chips, and adding in dried fruit and fresh fruit :] I personally love cinnamon so I added more than listed but it's to your liking. Enjoy!

Recipe Ingredients for Oatmeal Craving Cookies

1 cup unsweetened applesauce
1/4 cup white sugar
1/4 cup packed brown sugar
2 eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 1/4 cups quick-cooking oats
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 tsp baking soda
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 cup craisins (cut into smaller pieces)
1/4 small apple (chopped into small pieces)
1/4 cup dark chocolate chips

Recipe Directions for Oatmeal Craving Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease cookie sheets.

  2. In a large bowl, mix together the applesauce, white sugar and brown sugar until well blended. Beat in the eggs and vanilla. Stir in the salt and baking soda. Gradually stir in the flour and oats, then fold in the chocolate chips, chopped craisins, and chopped apple. Drop by small spoonful onto the prepared baking sheets.

  3. Bake for 12 to 15 minutes in the preheated oven, until the bottoms are golden. Cool on wire racks.
