A traditional recipe I learned in a foods class I took. Very simple and delicious!

Recipe Ingredients for Oatmeal Cookies

3/4 cup Butter or Margarine
1 cup Brown Sugar, packed
1/2 cup Granulated Sugar
1 tsp Baking Powder
1/4 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 tsp Ground Cinnamon
1/4 tsp Ground Cloves
1 Egg
1 tsp Vanilla
1 3/4 cups Flour
2 cups Rolled Oats

Recipe Directions for Oatmeal Cookies

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.

  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat butter or margarine with an electric mixer on medium-high speed for 30 seconds.

  3. Add brown sugar, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, and cloves.

  4. Beat until combined, scraping the sides of the bowl occasionally.

  5. Beat in egg and vanilla until combined.

  6. Beat in as much of the flour as you can. No more than 1/2 a cup at a time.

  7. Stir in the remaining flour with a wooden spoon.

  8. Stir in the rolled oats.

  9. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls 2 inches apart on ungreased cookie sheets.

  10. Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the cookies are firm with golden edges.

  11. Cool cookies on a wire rack.
