Basic oat cake, very plain...no sugar. Great with sardines or with SF Strawberry preserves. Recipe comes from BH&G Heritage Cookbook. This (1970's) cookbook has many great American heritage recipes.

Recipe Ingredients for Oat Cakes

16 1/10 grams All Purpose Flour
1 cup Oats, Regular And Quick And Instant, Unenriched
0.25 Teaspoon Baking Powder
0.25 tsp Salt, Table
2 tbsp Butter
0.25 cup Oats, Regular And Quick And Instant, Unenriched
0.25 cup (8 fl oz) Water

Recipe Directions for Oat Cakes

Grind oats to a flour, combine with all purpose flour, baking powder and salt. Then add HOT water and melted butter and form into a ball. Roll out to the size of a 10" round on unground oatmeal laden surface. Cut into wedges. Bake for 15 minutes at 350. Turn off heat and let cakes sit in oven another 5 minutes. Ready to eat.
