Changing my basic muffin recipe in an effort to reduce my cholesterol and weight.

Recipe Ingredients for Oat Bran Chocolate Chip Muffins

8 cups bran flakes (i71096)
5 1/2 cups skim milk
2 cups wheat flour
2 1/2 cups oatmeal
10 tbsp. flax seed
4 tbsp baking powder
2 tsp salt
2 cups applesauce
3 egg whites
1 1/4 cups sugar
12 oz. semisweet chocolate chips (i126459)

Recipe Directions for Oat Bran Chocolate Chip Muffins

  1. Grind oatmeal into a flour using blender. Set aside.

  2. Mix bran flakes, milk, applesauce and egg whites in LARGE bowl

  3. Add in flour, oat flour, flax seed, baking powder, salt, sugar. Mix well.

  4. Add chocolate chips

  5. Put in greased muffin cups and bake at 375 until springs back when lightly touched
