Recipe Ingredients for Nutty Wheat Waffles

3 cups unbleached flour
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/4 cup sugar
2 tablespoons baking powder
4 cups 1% milk
1/4 cup butter, melted
1/2 cup applesauce
4 eggs, lightly beatened
1 cup pecans, finely chopped

Recipe Directions for Nutty Wheat Waffles

  1. Combine all ingredients, in order listed, in a large mixing bowl; whisk until well blended and smooth. Let batter rest 5 minutes before using.

  2. Preheat the waffle maker to desired setting.

  3. Pour 2 cups of batter onto the center of the lower grid of the preheated waffle maker; spread batter evenly using a heat proof spatula. Close lid of waffle maker. Cook according to directions. Remove and enjoy!
