Nut Bread from Marc Bittman's "How to Cook Everything"

Recipe Ingredients for Nut Bread

3 cups flour
4 teaspoons baking powder
2/3 cup sugar
1 1/2 cups milk
1 egg
1/4 cup melted butter
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup chopped walnuts

Recipe Directions for Nut Bread

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

  2. Mix together dry ingredients.

  3. First melt the butter and then mix together wet ingredients.

  4. Form well in dry ingredients and stir and fold in wet ingredients until entire mixture is wet (i.e. do not over mix; it will be a bit lumpy).

  5. Pour into greased 5x9 loaf pan and bake for 45-60 minutes until toothpick comes out clean from center of loaf.

  6. Cool on rack for at least 15 minutes.
